Karen Kingsbury

Karen Kingsbury has become one of my favorite authors. In her writing, there is no doubt that she has a great faith and love for the Lord Jesus Christ. She also has love for family that has been depicted in the stories that I have read. Karen Kingsbury

Karen was born to Theodore and Anne Kingsbury in Fairfax, Virginia. She now lives in Vancouver, Washington with her husband, Donald and their six children. I have to admire her for the fact she has become such an endearing author plus have a family of six three of which she adopted from Haiti.

She has written more than 30 novels with three of them due to become movies in the near future: Gideon’s Gift, A Thousand Tomorrows and Like Dandelion Dust.

Karen has a B.A. degree in Journalism from California State University Northridge and she has been a sports writer for The Los Angeles Times. She later wrote features for The Los Angeles Daily News which then led her to writing an article in People magazine which, in turn, led to writing a book when a publisher contacted her.

She had always wanted to become a writer and wrote Where Yesterday Lives in 1998. After reading one of Francine River’s books, she then felt led to write Christian novels and has had great success in this field with 6 million copies of her novels in print. She received the 2005 Gold Medallion Book Award for Oceans Apart and was the first female author for her book Ever After to win the 2007 Book of Year Award from ECPA. It was also the first fiction book to win this award.
