The Note
Peyton MacGruder, a newspaper columnist, writes for the Tampa Times. Her column, “The Heart Healer” has not been drawing many readers and she has been told that she has three weeks to make the necessary changes to improve the column or lose her job.
As she goes about trying to attract more readers, PanWorld Flight 848 bound for Tampa International Airport crashes and burns leaving all 261 passengers dead. In the wake of the tragedy, she becomes more puzzled when a woman approaches her and hands her a small plastic bag that has a note inside that she found washed on shore near her home. The note has a simple, but profound message that reads:
T –
I love you. All is forgiven.
Dad
Peyton realizes that this could be the answer to her failing column, and she begins the search for “T”. In her determination to find the owner of the note, she discovers lessons of love and forgiveness and the past she must face.

Angela Hunt has become one of my new favorite authors. Her book, The Note, is a unique and clever story that kept me interested from beginning to end and surprised me at several turns. Even the title intrigued me! You will find Peyton MacGruder a determined, yet troubled young woman who discovers love and forgiveness in this story of second chances.
I look forward to reading more of Angela Hunt’s stories including the sequel, The Note 2 Taking a Chance on Love, which was made into a movie in January of 2009.
The story is a captivating story of a disenchanted columnist who finds more than she bargained for when she begins to investigate. There is an allegory woven throughout the novel which fascinated me. I believe you won’t be disappointed and you won’t soon forget this story.
