The Atonement Child
Synopsis:
Dynah Carey knew where her future was headed. She was engaged to a wonderful man, the daughter of doting parents, and a faithful child of God.
Then, in one horrific, terrifying moment, the unthinkable, unpardonable happens. Dynah’s perfect life is shattered by rape, her future irrevocably altered by an unwanted pregnancy, her family torn apart. A few weeks following the attack, she faces an agonizing decision that pushes her faith to its limits and threatens to tear her family apart.
Will she choose to end the untimely life within her, or embrace it? Her decision will change more lives than she could ever imagine. Her seemingly rock solid faith is pushed to the limits as she faces the most momentous choice of her life-to embrace or to end the untimely life within her.
Review:
Francine Rivers has written a powerful and touching story about rape and abortion. It makes you think about the decision you would make if you in Dyna’s situation.
The story brings out the feelings and opinions of those who are involved in Dyna’s life and how she struggles with her own feelings. She does have a huge decision to make and it will impact her family, even her grandmother, who has a profound effect on her life and is essential to the story.
The book kept me interested from beginning to end, and as in all of Francine Rivers books, God is honored and glorified. She shows how God draws people to Him through tough times and also how He already knows our hearts and our past, and is so willing to forgive and accept us unconditionally.
The Atonement Child is worth the reading time. I hope you will enjoy it as I did.
