Finding Marie

Synopsis:

Marie didn’t ask to be a courier for secret documents. The men chasing her couldn’t care less. They just want to find her, dead or alive.

Finding Marie by Susan Page DavisMarie Belanger knows nothing about the covert assignments her naval lieutenant husband goes on from time to time, but she’s pleased that their tour in Japan is at an end. What once seemed an interminable assignment is finished, and now Marie and Pierre can think about a Stateside posting and perhaps even starting a family. While Pierre wraps up his duties, Marie plans a brief visit to her family in Maine.

But life turns upside down when Marie unexpectedly finds a computer flash drive in her carry-on luggage at the San Francisco airport. Moments earlier the woman she had been sitting with on the plane from Tokyo had been murdered. Suddenly her journey from California to Maine becomes a nightmare as Marie is forced to run for her life. Pierre, afraid for his wife, contacts his best friend, Lr Commander George Hudson and together they set out on a search for Marie that spans the country. Yet as hard as they try, they keep finding themselves one step behind their enemies, who are just one step behind Marie.

Review:

This is really an exciting story. Marie, with her recently-found faith in Christ, has to deal with some real life and death situations.

The book makes you wonder what you would do in either a similar situation– which would be quite frightening–or in a situation where you had to make quick decisions when faced with danger. The story tells how God put people in her path to help her in her attempts to escape the men who are after her.

It also reveals the power of prayer. Marie’s family–including her frantic husband–demonstrate faith as they wait to hear the whereabouts of Marie.

As I have said before, Christian fiction has lessons in faith, but can also be stories that you cannot put down until you have read to the last page. Finding Marie is a book like that, and I think you will enjoy reading it. I intend to find more books by Susan Page Davis since I enjoyed this one so much.
