Breaker’s Reef
Synopsis:
When a famous mystery writer moves to Cape Refuge, ex-con Sheila Caruso, mother to Sadie and Caleb, is thrilled to get a job working with him. But when a teenage girl is found murdered, Sheila discovers that a scene in one of the eccentric writer’s novels matches the crime scene—exactly!
Then a second dead girl is discovered by Police Chief Cade. And when this murder mirrors a scene in another of the writer’s books, Cade is drawn into a web of trickery and deceit. Shockingly, evidence turns up in Cade’s truck–evidence that points to Cade himself as the number one suspect!
Cade tries to clear his name, but when eighteen year-old Sadie Caruso disappears, tensions mount to a fever pitch. Can Cade find the real killer before Sadie winds up dead? Is the author a demented killer or a hapless victim? And what—if anything—does Sadie’s own mother have to do with the crimes?

Review:
Terri Blackstock is a great writer who combines both suspense and romance in one book! I enjoy reading her stories because they keep me interested until the last page. This book is no exception.
The murders of the young girls are both disturbing and frustrating to Chief Cade and his police force. The murderer continues to lead them astray as they try to solve the case. The story also explores the relationship of Sheila and her daughter Sadie and how it ties in with the murders.
The romantic involvement of Chief Cade and Blair Owens lends interest as it shows genuine love that exists between the two.
The Christian values and the salvation message is, as always, intertwined in Terri Blackstock’s books. She does a wonderful job of showing how her characters and their faith play a part in the story itself and, as a result, gives life lessons to her readers.
I recommend reading Breaker’s Reef It is Book 4 in the Cape Refuge series and will have you coming back for more stories that involve the same characters.
