What is Sarcalogos?
We call Christian Fiction Book Club a Sarcalogos Blog because it grew out of a website named www.sarcalogos.com. The word Sarcalogos means The Word Incarnate or, as I translate it: The Word Made Flesh.
So…who or what is The Word? “IN THE beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself. He was present originally with God. All things were made and came into existence through Him; and without Him was not even one thing made that has come into being. In Him was Life, and the Life was the Light of men. And the Light shines on in the darkness, for the darkness has never overpowered it [put it out or absorbed it or appropriated it, and is unreceptive to it].” (John 1:1-5 Amplified Bible)
“And the Word (Christ) became flesh (human, incarnate) and tabernacled (fixed His tent of flesh, lived awhile) among us; and we [actually] saw His glory (His honor, His majesty), such glory as an only begotten son receives from his father, full of grace (favor, loving-kindness) and truth.” (John 1:14 Amplified Bible)
The content which I share in this blog is written with the hope of fulfilling two tasks:
1) Following the Great Commission; to go “into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” (Matthew 16:15)
2) Encouraging and building up the Body of Christ:
“But you aren’t in the dark about these things, dear brothers and sisters, and you won’t be surprised when the day of the Lord comes like a thief. For you are all children of the light and of the day; we don’t belong to darkness and night. So be on your guard, not asleep like the others.
Stay alert and be sober. Night is the time for sleep and the time when people get drunk. But let us who live in the light think clearly, protected by the body armor of faith and love, and wearing as our helmet the confidence of our salvation. For God decided to save us through our Lord Jesus Christ, not to pour out his anger on us. He died for us so that we can live with him forever, whether we are dead or alive at the time of his return. So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.” (1 Thessalonians 5:4-11 NLT Emphasis added)
